Grassroots movement to a Global Network
JRC, which began as a grassroots initiative in India and evolved into a national movement, has now grown into a global network.

In India, seven children every hour report a sexual crime against them. Four them are reporting a rape.

Nine children every hour are reported kidnapped, abducted, or missing. One of them has been abducted for a child marriage.

An estimated 15 million women aged 20-24 years old - 23.3% - were married as children. In 2022, only 1,020 crimes of child marriage were reported.

The reported crime figures are just the tip of the iceberg. There are more than 430 million children in India, and crimes of any sort were reported for only 170,274 children (0.04%) in 2022. Many, many more cases go unreported, often due to a lack of trust in India’s legal processes and challenges in the justice delivery system.

In India, through unparalleled grassroots mobilization we are shaping a future where every child can thrive. JRC partners have empowered survivors to raise their voices and fight for their rights through relentless efforts. Together, we have driven accountability in law enforcement, reformed laws and policies, enhanced institutional transparency, and delivered justice to those who need it most.

Building on the success we've achieved in India, we are now taking our proven strategy global. By adapting India's model to address the unique challenges of each country, we are expanding our reach and working tirelessly to create a just world for children. Through collective efforts, we are committed to driving meaningful change and ensuring every child’s right to protection, justice, and a better future
